The main reasons for using the Healthy Soils approach to Fertiliser Management are :

1. To increase yields and Plant Health.
2. To have healthy, productive soils now and into the future.
3. To increase your bottom line.
4. Environmental benefits, include the reduction of nutrient loss, sequestering of carbon, reduction of agro chemicals and high analysis fertilisers and using biologically friendly fertilisers.

Note 1

Healthy Soils provides programmes for broadacre – horticulture etc.

• Firstly by looking at the energetics of the soil thereby accessing the ability of the soil to grow a crop to maturity ie via a Soil Test Roadmap.

• Is to balance the mineral ratios within this roadmap – Cations – Phosphorus etc.

• To feed and adjust the microbial population for the crop which is to be harvested.

• To apply trace minerals in a bid to balance their ratios.

• The first precursor to life is Nitrogen – Proteins. To get maximum efficiency from Nitrogen we need a balanced programme. We require elements to enter plants in a Phosphate form – not in a Nitrogen form. On acquiring the above, the mineral density within our harvested crops will have a healthier nutrition.

• When the above has been achieved inputs of fertiliser will be reduced.

• Fertilisers that are applied are required to be in a slow release form.

• Humates and Acids of Humate are extensively used – Carbon is the forgotten element.

• Stable forms of Soil Carbon (ie Humus and Glomalin) are manufactured by micro organisms. Carbon compounds are readily oxidised into CO2, microbes convert these to stable polymers, that can last for generations in the soil. Some current conventional farming techniques result in the soil carbons deposited by plants being oxidised and converted back into CO2 therefore the soil organic matter levels will continue to decline under these methods.

• Our programmes are about increasing efficiency gains. If a little is good more must be better. WRONG!
